Hyundai Mobis is returning to CES and they’re bringing a slew of automotive goodies. The highlight is the Mobion concept, which is apparently based on the Ioniq 5 and features a unique design. The company is keeping details under wraps, but confirmed it will be equipped with an e-Corner System that enables all four wheels to turn up to 90 degrees. This allows the vehicle to drive in virtually any direction.
We can also get a glimpse of “Interaction
Lighting” units. Little is known about them, but they apparently feature
‘swiping’ motions. Besides the concept, the company will showcase the world’s
first in-vehicle rollable display. It will be joined by a transparent display,
which “employs holographic optical elements technology.” The company didn’t go
into many specifics, but noted the transparent nature of the display creates a
sense of space and openness.
On the electric vehicle side, the company
will showcase a high-power Integrated Charging Control Unit. It’s rated at 22 kW
and this could halve the recharging time of EVs equipped with more conventional
11 kW ICCUs. The company also suggested it was designed with vehicle-to-grid
technology in mind.
In total, Hyundai Mobis will show 20 new
mobility technologies that are ready for immediate mass production. The company
also noted they’re looking to diversify its customer base and increase sales by
highlighting their “technological capabilities and product quality” at CES.
