BMW is hard at work developing a collection of mid-cycle refreshes for the 3-Series and 4-Series. With that, a new variant will be added to the M4 lineup, and the all-wheel-drive version of the M3 will get a small increase in power. In September, the head of BMW’s M division revealed to the world that the brand would be adding an M4 CS to the lineup to sit alongside the M3 CS. Essentially, it will be a more comfortable version of the M4 CSL.
Like that car, the M4 CS will get power
from a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo straight-six, and new documents uncovered by users
on Bimmerpost suggest that it will also make 543 hp. It will
likely be slower than the M4 CSL, which has no rear seats, as well as a carbon
fiber roof, hood, and trunk lid, but will be easier to live with when it isn’t
on a track.
The documents also suggest that the M4 CS
will be sold in the U.S. as well as in both left- and right-hand drive European
markets. Production of the new model is set to kick off in July 2024. In
addition, the super sleuths on Bimmerpost have dug up output figures for the M3
Competition M xDrive. The all-wheel-drive version of the car will get a few
extra horses that the RWD versions of the sedan don’t.
More specifically, the car will get a 20
hp bump when it gets its mid-cycle refresh. As a result, the M3 Competition M
xDrive will make a total of 523 hp for the 2025 model year. As
with the M4 CS, the updated M3 is set to go into production in the summer of
2024. Documents suggest that American, European, and UK drivers will all be
offered the new model once it hits dealer showrooms.
