It has been a year since Porsche refreshed the third-generation Cayenne, but one crucial member was conspicuously absent. Now, the 2025 Cayenne GTS makes its comeback in both standard and Coupe bodystyles, boasting an enhanced twin-turbo V8, a more responsive suspension configuration, sportier design elements, and a host of additional standard features. While it is not as immensely powerful as the Turbo S E-Hybrid or as track-focused as the Turbo GT, the GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) occupies a sweet spot in the Cayenne lineup, blending a driver-focused configuration with practical everyday usability.
The highlight of the facelifted version is
the extensively updated twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, now generating 493 hp and 660 Nm of torque. This marks a healthy increase of 40
hp and 40 Nm over the outgoing Cayenne GTS, while keeping a
safe distance from the Cayenne S, which utilizes a 468 hp variant of the same engine. The twin-turbo V8 is exclusively paired with an
eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic gearbox, which channels power to all four
wheels through the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system. Similar to the
setup in the Turbo GT, the PTM system features a separate cooling circuit,
enhancing durability during enthusiastic driving.
The power increase translates to slight
enhancements in performance, with the Cayenne GTS now capable of accelerating
from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 275 km/h. The standard two-chamber air suspension with adaptive dampers
has a GTS-specific setup, sitting 10 mm lower compared to the
regular versions. Handling is further improved by the increased negative camper
of the front wheels, with pivot bearings sourced from the Turbo GT. The active
roll stabilization system (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) is optional, but
the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus is included as standard.
The GTS inherits the redesigned elements
seen across the rest of the updated Cayenne lineup but incorporates distinct
touches for a subtle sporty demeanor. Notably, GTS-specific bumper intakes
reminiscent of those on the Turbo GT are featured, complemented by tinted
lighting units. Subtle GTS emblems adorn the doors and tailgate, while the dark
bronze finish on the tailpipes adds a touch of sophistication. The sporty
stance is further enhanced by the high-gloss black accents of the standard-fit
Sport Design Package, replacing the body-colored trim of older GTS iterations.
Lastly, a set of 21-inch RS Spyder Design
alloy wheels finished in anthracite, coupled with red brake calipers, completes
the exterior aesthetic of the Cayenne GTS. For added dynamism, the Cayenne GTS
Coupe features an adaptive rear spoiler. Additionally, customers can opt for
one of three Lightweight Sport Packages, which reduce weight by up to 25 kg, further enhancing performance. Moving to the interior, Porsche
retained a generous amount of the Race Tex material for the upholstery combined
with leather and red stitching. As with the rest of the facelifted Cayenne
trims, the GTS features an updated curved digital instrument cluster, a new
infotainment display and the optional passenger display. Additionally, the Bose
Surround System is offered as standard among other amenities.
