Geely introduced a new version of the Panda Mini EV urban dweller in China, featuring a motorsport-inspired bodykit and a special livery. Despite the aggressive styling, the Panda Mini EV Go Kart Edition doesn’t bring any power or chassis upgrades over the stock model. The highlights of the new special edition are a roof-mounted wing and a striking livery sending strong Fast and Furious vibes. At the front, the redesigned bumper has larger intakes and a pronounced splitter, with the hood getting a set of tiny fins. A set of 14-inch wheels are tucked under fender extensions and are supported by deeper side skirts, and faux side gills on the doors. The special edition microcar is available in white, black, or gray, always combined with pink graphics.
The factory aero modifications resulted in
an increased length of 3,150 mm, 85 mm longer than
the standard model. The Go Kart Edition is also 18 mm wider due to
the fender moldings and 85 mm taller due to the wing while
retaining the same 2,015 mm wheelbase. Unfortunately, all that
sportiness doesn’t translate to the interior which has been left completely
stock. The salmon-colored plastics are combined with white patches on the seat
upholstery looking like a beauty salon. The dashboard retains the 8-inch
infotainment touchscreen and the elongated 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Panda Mini EV Go Kart
Edition doesn’t bring any extra power or even a sharper chassis setup. The
model is still powered by a single electric motor with 40 hp and 110 Nm of torque, offering the option between two driving modes
– normal and sport. Geely didn’t announce detailed specifications of this new
special, but the standard Panda Mini EV has a 17.03 kWh battery pack allowing a
range of up to 200 km under the CLTC protocols.
Pricing and availability for the
sporty-looking EV will be announced at a later date, although we already know
it will be reserved for Chinese customers. We don’t expect it to be much more
expensive than the existing range, which is priced between ¥ 29,900-56,900
(US$ 4,134-7,867). Besides the Go Kart edition, the lineup includes the regular
Panda Mini EV, the crossover-style Panda Knight, plus the Yellow Duck and
Dragon special editions.
