The UK-based Porsche restorer has introduced the world to another gorgeous 911 (964), and it’s the first time on record that a Theon Porsche has a removable roof segment. The company claims that it managed to eliminate all the shortcomings of the original sports car from the early 1990s. Among other things, its weight has been reduced to 1,228 kg – that’s only 60 kilos more than the coupe version weighs. In order to keep the body rigid all around, carbon-fiber braces have been added to the standard metal floor pan.
The body received a fresh coat of paint,
new shiny trim bits and 18-inch Fuchs-style wheels to go with the stylistic.
The interior isn’t shown in detail, but we are told there’s a carefully
disguised audio system there complete with subwoofers built into the back
seats.
Power for the restomod is still provided
by its usual 4.0-liter flat-six engine tuned to 409 PS. A lighter
flywheel and a loud exhaust system, as well as some other mods, should still
deliver a new driving experience compared to stock.
Theon didn’t mention the cost of this
particular car, but you can order a similar Targa from them starting from
£ 515,000 before options – that’s around 650,000 USD. Note that the price
includes neither the donor car nor the taxes.
