Following a preview last year, Callum has released new details about the Skye. A prototype will debut later this week at the Concours on Savile Row and reservations are currently being accepted in exchange for a £ 500 (US$ 635 / € 585) deposit. Billed as an exclusive multi-terrain electric vehicle, the Skye is the brainchild of Ian Callum, who has helped pen the Aston Martin Vanquish as well as a host of Jaguars including the original XF and the ill-fated C-X75.
While we’ve already seen the exterior,
Callum revealed the 2+2 cabin for the first time. It features a flat-bottomed
three-spoke steering wheel and a slender, ramp-like center stack. The latter
sports three rotary dials as well as what appears to be a rotating shifter. Elsewhere,
there’s a minimalist dashboard with a small infotainment system that supports
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The model also appears to have a digital
instrument cluster.
Screens aside, Callum said the Skye will
be equipped with front sports seats and a rear bench that is “suitable for
children.” That’s not too surprising as the model measures 4,047
mm long, which makes it a tad shorter than the Hyundai Venue. While the model
is certainly on the small side, the rear bench can be removed to create a
spacious cargo compartment.
On the performance front, the Skye has
all-wheel drive and a 42 kWh battery pack that provides an estimated 274 km of range. The company also said the 1,150 kg EV will be
able to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in less than four seconds. While a
number of specifications remain unconfirmed, Cullum suggested the model will be
one of the fastest charging EVs on the market. In particular, the company said
there will be an optional “ultra-fast charging battery” that can be fully
recharged in less than ten minutes.
The Skye will go into “exclusive low
volume production” and have prices starting between £ 80,000 (US$ 101,710 /
€ 93,633) and £ 110,000 (US$ 139,850 / € 128,745). The wide range in price can likely
be explained by a multitude of variants, which will include on- and off-road
focused models. We’ll learn more later this year, but Cullum showed a variant
wearing meaty BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A tires.
