BYD-owned car marque Fang Cheng Bao is getting ready to premiere its second production car, a flagship SUV called the 8. Here are its first photos and parameters as stated in the Ministry of Industry of China database. Car News China believes that the sales will begin in the third quarter of the year with prices starting close to 500,000 Yuan (US$ 70,500). The Bao 8 is a continuation of the Super 8 Concept that debuted last year. Back in April, the company unveiled a rugged-looking large SUV at a special event, but never provided any details about it.

It is now official, thanks to the patent data, that the off-roader is 5,195 mm long, 1,994 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall with 2,920 mm of wheelbase. That’s roughly 203 x 78 x 73 inches if you prefer those, with 114 inches between the axles. The curb weight is impressive at 3,905 kilograms.

 

For the powertrain, the SUV uses two e-motors rated at 272 PS at the front and 408 PS at the rear end. It is a range-extender hybrid by design, using a 2.0-liter petrol engine to get extra power. With the output maxed out, it reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 4.8 seconds and can hit 180 km/h.
