Volvo might have significantly reduced its stake in Polestar but the Swedish automaker retains the “Polestar Engineered” badge for performance trims of its models – at least for the time being. Volvo Germany, announced two new Polestar Engineered Limited Editions for 2024, based on the plug-in hybrid XC60 SUV and S60 sedan, complete with unique 3M vinyl wraps and special badges. The Volvo XC60 and S60 already had received the Polestar Engineered badge in the US and other markets, but the new limited editions add a few unique touches. The exterior highlight is the matte vinyl wrap by 3M, which has been applied to each body panel separately for a more aesthetically pleasing and long-lasting effect. Buyers can choose between Matte Silver or Matte Indigo shades, contrasting the gold brake calipers.
The XC60 rides on 22-inch wheels, and the
S60 on 20-inch wheels, featuring the same design with five double spokes.
Behind them we find Akebono (XC60) or Brembo (S60) six-piston brake calipers
for the beefier ventilated rotors. As with the standard Polestar Engineered
models, the Limited Editions feature the Öhlins dual flow valve technology
suspension and additional strut bar for sharper handling and greater rigidity.
Inside, there is a unique Polestar
Engineered badge on the center console, and gold seatbelts as the only colorful
touch against the black upholstery. The equipment also includes premium audio
systems by Harman Kardon (S60) or Bowers & Wilkins (XC60), connected to
Volvo’s Android-based infotainment system.
Both models feature the T8 AWD plug-in
hybrid system combining a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter engine with a
rear-mounted electric motor. The combustion engine alone produces 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque, with another 143 hp and
309 Nm coming from the electric motor. This allows the S60 to
accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with the bulkier XC60
completing the same sprint in 4.9 seconds. The 14.7 kWh battery pack offers up
to 94 km of electric-only range between charges in the sleeker S60
sedan.

Edition T8 AWD starts from € 80,480 (US$ 87,137), while the XC60 is listed for € 94,680
(US$ 102,512). Availability is limited to 60 units for each model, all reserved
for buyers in Germany.
