VinFast has revealed new details about the adorable VF 3, ahead of its launch in Vietnam. Pricing starts at 240 million VND (US$ 9,428) without the battery and 322 million VND (US$ 12,650) with it. Customers who choose to get a battery subscription will find three different plans. The entry-level one costs 900,000 VND (US$ 35) and is aimed at people who drive less than 1,500 km per month. At the opposite end of the spectrum is a 2,000,000 VND (US$ 79) plan for people who drive over 2,500 km per month.
Pricing aside, the VF 3 has an expansive
color palette that includes four standard hues as well as five different
options. If those aren’t to your liking, you can spend an additional 15 million
VND (US$ 589) to get a custom color. VinFast didn’t release too many other
details, but the model has 191 mm of ground clearance and will be
offered with aerodynamically optimized 16-inch wheels. Other highlights include
plastic body cladding and blacked out pillars.
In terms of size, the VF 3 measures 3,190 mm long, 1,679 mm wide, and 1,622 mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2,075 mm. To put those numbers
into perspective, the model is 441 mm shorter than the Fiat 500e.
VinFast was coy about the cabin, but it features a single 10-inch display that
appears to function as a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.
It’s joined by a two-spoke steering wheel, minimalistic controls, and a few
splashes of color. Buyers will also find a rear seat that folds down to provide 285 liters of cargo space.
Power comes from a rear-mounted electric
motor that produces 43 hp and 110 Nm of torque.
Those modest numbers enable the crossover to accelerate from 0-50
km/h in a “brisk” 5.3 seconds. That’s not exactly fast and the crossover has a
small 18.64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It enables the model to travel up to 210 km on a single charge in the NEDC cycle. When the battery is
low, it can go from a 10% to 70% charge in as little as 36 minutes.
