Hispano Suiza is expanding the range of its Carmen hypercar with the Sagrera, just in time for its 120th anniversary. The new version of the electric supercar introduces distinctive styling elements, notably an oversized rear wing. Additionally, the Sagrera features an upgraded battery with increased capacity for extended range, along with enhancements to the chassis. It retains the powerful 1,100 hp quad-motor powertrain seen in the Carmen Boulogne model.
Starting with the exterior, the model
looks instantly recognizable as another version of the Hispano Suiza Carmen,
with most of the exterior cues carried over from previous iterations. However,
distinguishing features of the Sagrera include a rear spoiler shaped after stork
wings. It also sports a diffuser inspired by the Boulogne variant, accented
with copper details, and introduces new vents on the hood. The company states
that the refined aerodynamic components result in a substantial increase in
downforce and grip, enhancing the Carmen’s cornering and lateral acceleration
capabilities.
Hispano Suiza opted for a matte Cava Gold
shade for the exterior, complemented by leather and Alcantara upholstery in the
cabin. Inside, the car features a redesigned center console housing a new
infotainment system equipped with the latest connectivity features. It can also
display personalized welcome messages for individual users. More significantly,
the Sagrera introduces several upgrades under the hood. The standout
enhancement is a new lithium-ion battery boasting a capacity of 103 kWh, up
from 80 kWh. This increase translates to an extended driving range of up to 480
km based on the WLTP cycle.
The T-shaped battery was developed and
manufactured in Barcelona by Hispano Suiza. It weighs 612 kg,
operates at a maximum voltage of over 750 VDC, and is complemented by a lighter
cooling system crafted from more sustainable materials. In addition to
extending the range, the company claims that the upgraded battery pack enhances
weight distribution and driving dynamics. The quad-motor electric powertrain
with a combined output of 1,100 hp and 1,160 Nm of torque is carried over from the Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne,
allowing a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.6 seconds. The hypercar also
has a virtual self-locking differential on the rear axle, adjustable suspension
made from lightweight materials, and stronger yet lighter carbon ceramic brakes
with enhanced cooling.
The Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera was
revealed at the Finca Mas Solers venue in Spain, as part of the celebrations
for the historic brand’s 120th anniversary. It will make its dynamic debut at
the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
