The Zeekr brand from Geely is one of the more compelling brands launched in China in recent years, and after taking the fight to the Tesla Model 3 with the compelling 007 sedan, Zeekr has now set its sights on the Tesla Model Y with the new 7X. Preliminary details about the all-electric SUV reveal it’s based on the same SEA architecture as the 007 and will be sold with 2 battery pack options: a 75 kWh LFP and a 100 kWh ternary NMC. In addition, 2 drive configurations will be offered, including the standard, rear-wheel drive version with 416 hp when paired with either battery pack, while the flagship dual-motor variant is good for 637 hp.
The 7X is 75 mm longer than a
Model Y, sitting at 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and standing 1,666 mm tall, with a 2,925 mm wheelbase. The wheelbase is also slightly longer than the 2,891 mm wheelbase of the Tesla. While many details about the 7X remain unconfirmed, the
new electric SUV will be offered with air suspension and several different
19-inch and 20-inch wheel designs. Buyers can also opt to have an advanced
LiDAR sensor fitted.
Visually, the Zeekr 7X shares some design
traits with the firm’s all-electric Mix minivan. This includes a similar LED
headlight arrangement with the firm’s trick ‘Stargate’ front LED panel, that
can display text and is also found on the 007 sedan. Spin around to the rear,
and the design of the 7X is quite simple, with a full-width LED light bar and a
black bumper.
The Tesla competitor weighs between 2,298
kg and 2,475 kg depending on specification. No range
details have been provided at this early stage but they probably won’t be far
off the 007, which can travel up to 688 km on a charge through the
Chinese testing cycle.
