Ford has released the first teaser image of the 2025 Expedition, ahead of its debut on October 3. However, it isn’t much of a surprise as undisguised prototypes have been running around Detroit and Lincoln introduced the 2025 Navigator in August. That being said, the teaser image is pretty revealing as it shows the full-size SUV will have an all-new front fascia with a wide grille that is surrounded by a thin illuminated strip. We can also get a glimpse at slender headlights and a small intake, which is located just below the grille.
The rest of the design is pretty familiar
as it largely carries over from the Navigator. This means there’s rounded wheel
arches, a prominent character line, and an odd kink in the beltline. Out back,
we can expect an all-new Split Gate that echoes the one found on the Navigator.
The top three-quarters rise like a traditional liftgate, while the bottom
lowers like a conventional tailgate.
The Split Gate isn’t the only radical
departure as the cabin has been completely reimagined and loosely follows in
the footsteps of the Navigator. However, it trades the massive 48-inch
pillar-to-pillar display for a smaller screen that is mounted on top of the
dashboard. It’s joined by a secondary display, which apparently functions as a
traditional infotainment system. Elsewhere, there are vertical air vents and a
row of physical controls below the infotainment system. The model also sports a
wide center console as well as contrast stitching on the Tremor variant.
While the Navigator is powered exclusively
by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with 440 hp and 691
Nm of torque, the outgoing Expedition has three different outputs including
the aforementioned figure. Entry-level variants have 380 hp and 637 Nm of torque, while the Limited, King Ranch and Platinum
have 400 hp and 650 Nm of torque.
