Getting a model makeover is the 2025 Triumph Speed 1200 along with new model variant, the Speed Twin 1200 RS. This pair of Modern Classics feature chassis upgrades along with a horsepower increase, giving the Speed Twin name more of a focus on the sporty side of riding. The 270-degree, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine displacing 1,200 cc now gets 105 PS at 7,750 rpm, up from the previous 98.6 PS at 7,250 rpm. Torque remains the same at 112 Nm at 4,250 rpm while power is delivered to the rear wheel with X-ring chain and six-speed gearbox. Ergonomics for the Speed Twin 1200 are changed, with the handlebar position now higher and a little further forward. Meanwhile, the 1200 RS comes with seat tilted forward and raised, with handlebars slightly raised and further back.

These changes are coupled with Marzocchi suspension, the 1200 getting non-adjustable 43 mm diameter upside-forks while the rear is fitted with twin Marzocchie shock absorbers, adjustable for spring preload. The sportier 1200 RS gets fully-adjustable Marzocchi upside-down forks in front with twin Ohlins fully-adjustable shock absorbers at the back. Similar differences are seen in the braking system, the Speed Twin 1200 coming with Triumph own brand twin four-piston radial calipers in front while the 1200 RS gets Brembo Stylema M4.30 radial calipers. New for Triumph’s Speed Twin range is two-channel Optimised Cornering ABS. Also new is the fuel tank with a form-fitting sculpted shape, raked lines and deep front cutouts. The flip-up fuel filter cap is a new design while the side panels are simpler to integrate with the new brushed aluminium finish throttle body covers.

The Speed Twin’s seat is reshaped to be narrower in front with a shallower and more sculpted form. The Speed Twin 1200 RS gets a sporty and stylish napped finish seat with detailed stitching. In terms of riding aids, the Speed Twin gets two ride modes – Road and Rain – while the 1200 RS adds a third Sport mode which sharpens throttle response and optimises traction control settings. The Speed Twin 1200 RS also gets an up-and-down quickshifter which is hidden behind the gear shift lever to preserve the classic lines of the bike.

Further differentiating the Speed Twin 1200 RS from the base model Speed Twin is the addition of brushed aluminium front and rear mudguards. Seat height for the Speed Twin 1200 is set at 805 mm while the RS gets a 810 mm tall seat with weight is listed at 216 kg for both, with 14.5-litres of fuel carried in the tank. The Speed Twin 1200 gets three colour options – the fuel tank comes in Crystal White or Carnival Red upper with a Sapphire black lower, and a classically inspired Aluminium Silver option with discreet ‘1200’ numbering and twin black stripes. The 1200 RS is available in either bright Baja Orange or subtle Sapphire Black, both with RS decals in gold.
