The Audi RS6 is ready to enter its EV-only era, as the ICE-powered version is being renamed to RS7. The all-new RS6 E-tron is expected to debut next year, but our spy photographers have just spotted a camouflaged prototype of the Avant bodystyle, flaunting its RS-specific bodykit. The first spy appearance of the Audi RS6 E-tron Avant comes five months after we first laid eyes on prototypes of the equivalent Sportback. The more practical version of the RS6 E-Tron shares the sportier front and rear bumpers with the Sportback, distinguishing the flagship Audi Sport models from the rest of the A6 E-Tron lineup. Highlights include the RS-specific intakes up front and the oversized diffuser at the back.
It is not clear if the RS version has
wider fenders than the regular A6 E-tron Avant, but it will most likely come
with wider tracks, larger wheels, and tires. It is also safe to assume that the
RS6 E-tron will ride on a lowered and sportier suspension, and feature bigger
brakes. As with the entire A6 E-Tron lineup, the RS6 is underpinned by the
Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, developed in collaboration with
Porsche.
While Audi keeps its cards closed, the RS6
E-Tron is rumored to generate 805 hp, delivered to all four
wheels. This represents a healthy increase over the maximum output of the S6
E-tron which is 543 hp when launch control is activated. As
for the battery pack, the performance EV will likely inherit the 100 kWh (94.4
kWh net) unit, which is good for up to 750 km of range in lesser
versions. The 800V battery supports fast charging at a rate of up to 270 kW
when connected to a compatible DC charger.
The Audi RS6 E-tron lineup is expected to
debut in 2025, with sales commencing in the second half of the year.
