Peugeot Satelis 400i
Peugeot
revealed its newest maxi scooter for the European market. The Satelis 400i is
powered by the same 400 cc fuel-injected four-stroke engine found in the
Metropolis three-wheeler. The engine puts out 37 hp with 38 Nm of torque
through a CVT transmission – plenty of power for congested urban streets and
for motorway cruising too.
Designed
for reliability as well as performance, the low friction engine requires little
maintenance between services and its dual belt transmission is clean and
fuss-free, with no messy chains to adjust or lubricate.
Unlike
most maxi scooters, the Satelis has a large flat floor-pan, providing plenty of
legroom, and special foot rests that allow riders to stretch their legs for
feet-forward cruising, while the windscreen and aerodynamic body provide an
effective shield from wind and weather. Passengers also enjoy a comfortable
ride, thanks to the spacious dual seat and flip-out pillion foot pegs.
Peugeot
Scooters have a reputation for great handling and the Satelis 400i continues
this tradition, with 14-inch alloy wheels and Michelin City Grip tyres,
combined with double steel cradle frame, telescopic front forks and
preload-adjustable rear suspension. Twin 260 mm front brake discs and Nissin
hydraulic callipers, with a 240 mm rear brake disc, provide powerful and
predictable stopping power.
Practicality
also features throughout; beneath the seat is a lockable storage compartment,
large enough to hold two full-face helmets. For convenience, it opens via a
button on the dash panel or by optional remote control. A car-style dash with
digital displays of average and instantaneous fuel consumption, remaining range
and much more, keeps the rider well informed. Standard equipment also includes
LED daytime running lights, an on-board 12V socket and handy storage
compartments in the leg-shields.
The
Peugeot Satelis 400i is available in Pearly Black, Pearly White and Havana
Grey, priced at £ 4,599 on the road and is covered by a two year unlimited
mileage manufacturer’s warranty. There is also a sporty RS edition, featuring
tinted low profile screen, black wheels, polished stainless steel silencer and
sports trim seat. Available in White Snow and Titanium colours, the RS sells
for £ 4,799.
