2016
Fiat 500 Abarth
Abarth Head Operations
Paolo Gagliardo has revealed that the facelifted Fiat 500 Abarth is coming next
year. The facelifted Fiat 500S should also arrive around the same time.
The report suggests
that the 2016 Fiat 500 Abarth would remain the same in terms of output figures.
So, under the hood, there’d still be the 1.4 T-JET turbocharged four-cylinder
petrol engine producing 135-140 hp (depending on transmission) and 206 Nm of
torque.
Mr. Gagliardo still
reckons the Abarth 695 biposto as the leader of the 500 Abarth range. ‘The
smallest supercar’, as they call it, is powered by a 1.4 T-JET turbocharged
four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 190 hp and 250 Nm of torque, good
for a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.9 seconds and a top
speed of 230 km/h.
The 2016 Fiat 500
Abarth and 2016 Fiat 500C Abarth would also come with “no fewer than 1800”
changes. Expected exterior changes to be carried over to the Abarth variants
include new grille design, tweaked headlights, new LED daytime running lights
integrated into the fog lamps, redesigned tail lamps and new rear fog lamps
with one reversing light. On the inside, a noteworthy change would be a new
Uconnect infotainment system with a 5.0-inch display.
