VW
New Beetle
VW India
has opened a dedicated website for the new VW Beetle, revealing the
specification and features that we can expect. They have also confirmed that
bookings for the niche model has opened, and prospective customers have to
deposit INR 1 Lakh (US$ 1,643).
The new
Beetle will be available in a single variant, and will be equipped with
bi-xenon headlamps, 16 inch alloy wheels, power retractable ORVMs, rear
spoiler, and front foglamps. Inside, it features a dual zone automatic climate
control, touchscreen display, panoramic glass roof, auto dimming rear view
mirror, leather upholstery, and heated front seats.
The only
engine option available is a 1.4-liter TSI four cylinder petrol engine that is
capable of 147 hp. It is paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox with paddles
on the steering wheel as standard.
Like the
previous Beetle, the new model will be brought into the country via the CBU
route. Given its niche status and feature list, it is expected to be priced
between INR 30-35 Lakhs (US$ 49,290 – 57,505).
