2016
Toyota Avalon
Toyota
has been launched its flagship luxury sedan, the 2016 Toyota Avalon, in Canada
at a starting price of CA$ 39,990. The sedan is available in two trims, Touring
and Limited.
Front
side of the Avalon is dominated by the two-piece grille. The lower portion is
now even lower and wider than before, giving the face an aggressive look. The
upper grille is a single strip of chrome that houses the Toyota logo at the
center and moves sideways into the LED headlights that also features LED DRLs.
The sides feature new 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, new turn indicators,
chrome outline for the windows and chrome door handles. The rear body has been
given redesigned tail lights, dual exhausts and chrome bumper accent.
The
cabin bears a premium feel with an upgraded instrument panel and a wood-grain
finish for the dashboard. Toyota says that they have done a lot of work to
reduce noise inside the cabin for better occupant comfort. The base trim comes
with a nine-speaker Display Audio infotainment system that features 6.95-inch
screen, Bluetooth and USB input as well as XM satellite radio. The Touring
grade has been lavished with leather throughout the cabin. The material is seen
covering the seats, multi-function three-spoke steering wheel, gear shift knob
and door trims. Dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable heated driver’s
seat, electrically-adjustable heated exterior mirrors, keyless entry and push
button start are all part of standard features.
The
Avalon comes exclusively powered by a 3.5-litre VVT-i naturally aspirated V6
gasoline engine that generates 268 hp and 336 Nm of torque and is mated to a
6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with three drive
modes, Normal, Sport and Eco.
The
Avalon features an array of safety and driver assistance systems like Vehicle
Stability Control (VSC) traction control, Antilock Braking System (ABS), brake
assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), 10 airbags, side
impact beams, and backup camera.
