Holden HSV GTS-R

As if the HSV-branded vehicles weren’t powerful enough, GM’s Down Under division is likely planning to release the daddy of all Australian muscle cars with the GTS-R name plate.

According to Car Advice, Holden registered the trademark on the vehicle (and merchandise) on December 2, 2015. Other than that, everything remains just a wild guess, as the potential upcoming automobile is still rumored to draw power from a ZR1-sourced LS9, with bespoke components, expected to boast the Corvette’s stock power-output (638 hp and 819 Nm of torque). Still, Car Advice reckons the final, real-life product is unlikely to go beyond the current LSA configuration, especially as the LSA project proved to be a nuisance for the engineers, cooling-wise.

It remains to be seen whether or not the ultimate HSV will be a limited-edition GTS with a small oomph in power, or a full-blown monster, reserved only to a handful of people. Nonetheless, the car is expected to debut in 2016 and hit the showrooms as soon as possible, given the fact it won’t have much time to stay on the shelves.
