VW Caravelle SE

VW has introduced a range of petrol engines for its light commercial vehicles lineup.

The biggest news here is the addition of a GTI-inspired 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol unit for the Caravelle passenger van. It will be offered in two power stages, with 150 hp and 204 hp, with the first one getting a 6-speed manual and the hotter one available with a 7-speed DSG automatic. These two petrol motors will be included to the Caravelle SE short wheelbase model range.

The sixth-generation of the van offers space for up to six passengers and comes with twin sliding side doors as standard. The rear seats are rail-mounted to provide “flexible and comfortable seating options”.

The German manufacturer is also introducing three petrol turbo units for the smaller Caddy panel van and Caddy life models. The Euro 6 range consists of a 1.2-liter 84 hp 5-speed manual, a 1.0-liter 102 hp 5-speed manual, and a 1.4-liter 125 hp with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG. The Caddy is available in three trim levels, Startline, Trendline, and Highline, and with short or Maxi wheelbases.

Prices of the new range start from US$ 20,602 (£ 13,610) for Caddy panel van, US$ 22,873 (£ 15,110) for Caddy Life, and US$ 43,813 (£ 28,950) for Caravelle SE.
