BMW i8 Protonic Red Limited Edition
For the first time ever, BMW’s i8 hybrid sports car will be available in a red finish
with the new Protonic Red special edition.
The i8 has
only been offered with four exterior colors up until now : silver, white, blue
and grey combined with either frozen grey or blue accents, any other shades you
may have seen the car in were foil wraps.
The new i8 Protonic Red is part of a
series of exclusive limited edition models poised to be unveiled for the first
time at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.
This version gets a Protonic Red finish
with Frozen Grey metallic accents along with different BMW W-spoke 470
light-alloy wheels on the outside, and red double-stitching and exclusive
carbon fiber and ceramic trims on the inside.
The standard model’s 357 horsepower and
450 lb-ft of torque hybrid powertrain that pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder
gasoline engine to an electric motor and lithium-ion high-voltage battery
remains unchanged.
BMW will begin production of the i8
Protonic Red Edition at its Leipzig plant from July onwards before going on
sale in September, priced at £ 112,535 OTR in the UK.
