2016 Ram Chassis Cab PTO Options
The needs of commercial truck owners are
diverse, and there’s no such thing as “one size fits all.” To give its
commercial customers the most options available, Ram is offering its Power
Take-off (PTO) options in many different configurations to fit various needs.
The PTO options on the Ram 3500, 4500, and 5500 are available with the 6.4L
Hemi gas V-8 or the 6.7L Cummins I-6 turbodiesel. Ram claims best-in-class PTO
power output at 60 hp. To save gas on the job, the 6.4L Hemi PTO option is able
to operate in four-cylinder mode and still provide the needed output. Rated
output for the engines are 370 hp at 4,600 rpm and 429 lb-ft of torque at 4,000
rpm, with the Cummins coming in at 325 hp at 2,400 rpm and 750 lb-ft at 1,500
rpm.
The PTO is available with right- or
left-hand outputs and on both 4x2 and 4x4 models. Gross combined weight rating
(GCWR) is 32,500 pounds on Ram 4500 with a towing capacity of 24,650 pounds.
Ram 5500 is rated at 37,500 GCWR and 29,600 pounds towing.
Powertrain coverage is 5 years and
100,000 miles with the diesel and 5 years and 60,000 miles with the gas engine.
Ram continues to be the only HD truck to offer an available manual
transmission. Chassis cab models can also be ordered with a 74-gallon dual-fuel
tank option. A nationwide network of 950 commercial specialist dealers supports
Ram Truck commercial offerings.
