ItalDesign GTZero
One year after an unnoticed GEA, and a
few months after the departure of its founder, ItalDesign seeks to reassure.
Mix of genres, the concept GTZero is a kind of homecoming.
The purpose of a concept is to offer new
solutions, new concepts, but also to dream. Last year the big sedan GEA was
probably a little forgotten the last proposal. This year the GTZero puts the
record straight, and stands as a synthesis of the history of the studio.
The ItalDesign is part of a long line of
grand touring coupe signed by the house, and more broadly from Italy. He
resumed under the direction of Filippo Perini, new head of the style, the idea
of shooting brake. A choice rarely implemented in production, but still very
vendor as a concept. Following the tradition of ItalDesign, there is also
research on the aerodynamics of subjects (control flows, active aerodynamics),
interior design, while seeking to make this relatively realistic proposal.
In terms of industrialization, the
GTZero explores the possibilities of a carbon fiber structure. Expensive, but
the solution is here announced as modular thanks to aluminum frames, thus
easier to use on several models. As its name suggests, and it goes in the
direction of history, the concept is electric with a front engine and two at
the back, comfortable for the total output of 485 hp. The autonomy is
500 km.
ItalDesign also unveiled its new logo.
The name of the studio is handed forward, instead of that of the founder, who
left the company last fall. Giugiaro but remains present, since its initial is
now associated with I and D. Tricolor strip emphasizes the Italian origins of
the studio.
