2016 Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle
Work vehicles meant for work, stripped of any nonessential
gimcrackery, still hold a dear place in our hearts. So that's the Ford F-150 Special Service Vehicle’s reason for being: work. Road work,
police work, construction work, worked workers working to the finest of work
songs, it matters not. The SSV is here to get down to dirty business.
Designed for government and fleet
customers, the SSV’s chief attribute is its big honkin’ 240-amp alternator,
perfect for running a plethora of lights, some radios, a computin’ machine or
two, and even an old Realistic cassette player to spin your old G. Gordon Liddy
books on tape.
In the interest of continued
cleanliness, vinyl flooring replaces the XL trim level’s carpet, so as to not
hold onto any more lingering stank than is strictly necessary. The standard
40/20/40 seats delete the middle 20 percent to allow more space for custom
equipment.
The powertrain department, fleets,
firefighters, forest rangers, and fuzz can choose from the 5.0-liter V-8 or the
3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, driving either two or four wheels. The SuperCab and the
more spacious SuperCrew cabs are available, depending on your
people-/perp-hauling needs. Regrettably, a German Shepherd like the one in the
press photos is not included.
