Yamaha Ray ZR
Yamaha has launched the Ray ZR automatic
scooter with a price for the standard variant at Rs. 52,500 and Rs. 54,500 for the disc brake model. The scooter was showcased at the
2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year in February. The Ray Z is one of the
popular model in the scooter market of India, and the two wheeler maker dubs
the new Ray ZR as the ‘Boy’s scooter’.
The new Ray ZR gets a sportier character
compare to the Ray Z. It gets more charismatic design. The Yamaha claims that
the multi layered body work at the front and on the engine cowl represents a
well trained muscular physique. The new scooter gets sharp headlamps and front
turn indicators, larger grab rail, dual tone body colour theme which is
complemented by the body decals, sharp taillights and sporty alloy wheels. It
also gets redesigned hexagonal shaped instrument console, which comes with enhanced
readability in night as well.
The Yamaha Ray ZR is a sportier version
of the Ray Z Power source for the scooter is the same 113 cc air cooled Blue
core engine which is the power source of Yamaha Alpha and Yamaha Ray Z. The
engine paired with a Continually Variable Transmission (CVT) churns out 7.1 PS
of peak power at 7500 rpm and 8.1 Nm of peak torque at 5000 rpm. This engine is
expected to deliver an eye popping fuel economy of 66 km/l.
The scooter will be available in a total of
four colour options, and two of them will be available in disc brake variants
while the other two will be available in standard drum brake variants. The
scooter weighs 103 kilogram and the under seat storage comes with a capacity of
21 litres. This new scooter will lock horn with other models in the segment
like Honda Dio, Hero Maestro Edge, TVS Jupiter etc.
