Hyundai RM16 N Concept
Dressed to impress and wearing the
"N" suffix to remind of the brand's performance division, the new
RM16 N Concept has been introduced at the 2016 Busan Motor Show, in South
Korea.
This is the third iteration of the
Project RM (Racing Midship), started in 2012, which was responsible for the
RM14 and RM15, presented in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and adds slim
headlights, wide air intakes and a low-extended hood, bringing the study's
design closer to the company's production cars.
Its weight distribution has remained
unchanged compared to the previous versions, 43 percent at the front and 57
percent at the rear, benefiting from a center of gravity of less than 500 mm from the ground. The bodywork is made of rigid carbon-fiber reinforced
plastic (CFRP) body panels that sit above an aluminum space frame.
The concept is still powered by a
2.0-liter T-GDI engine equipped with an electric supercharger that puts out 300
PS and 383 Nm of torque. The mill is mated to a six-speed
manual transmission that channels power to the rear wheels via an electronic
limited slip differential (E-LSD). Matching its look with a growl is the
electronically-variable exhaust system.
Joining the RM16 N Concept at the South
Korean automotive event is the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo, Ioniq, Elantra,
Veloster, i40, Sonata, Azera, Aslan, Tucson, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Sport and i20
WRC, along with a WRC simulator exhibition and the Genesis brand.
