Hanergy
Hanergy, a Chinese company specialized
in solar power, has unveiled four concept cars that use solar panels.
Hanergy is a multinational corporation
that focuses on clean energy, and is focused on various solutions meant to
reduce fossil fuel dependency.
During a dedicated event in China, the
company has revealed four concept cars that feature solar panels. These panels
are enough to charge the batteries of the vehicles, but a full charge takes
obviously longer than using the standard electric network.
The first of the concept cars is a
sporty-looking model called Handergy Solar R. It has solar panels on the hood,
roof, and on top of the doors - wherever possible. Its set of electric engines
provides all-wheel-drive, and it looks like a BMW i8 and a Koenigsegg mated in
a dark garage.
The second concept from Hanergy is
called Solar L, and it is an MPV with gullwing doors. The Solar L feature a
massive solar panel, and its design is polarizing, to say the least. The third
concept proposed by Hanergy is called Solar A, and it has a wedge-shaped design
due to its large roof, which features solar panels that can be extended.
The last of the four concepts is the
Solar O, which is a model meant for the city. Hanergy fitted it with solar
panels on the roof and hood, and the company says it can house two foldable
electric scooters in the back. The same presentation included the exhibit of a
four-door hatchback, which was shown as a design mock-up, and it did not have
an engine or interior.
As Car News China reports, the concepts
showcased at the event could drive about 80 kilometers with the
energy collected in six hours from their solar panels. If the lithium-ion
batteries were to be charged from a conventional plug, the full electric range
would reach 350 kilometers. We would advise you to take this
presentation with a grain of salt, as Hanergy has not manufactured any cars
before, and they would need a reliable partner to get these models to market.
