Hyundai Ioniq (UK)
Hyundai UK announced that the Ioniq, the
world’s first car to be offered with three electrified powertrains, will go on
sale in the UK from October 13, with prices kicking off at £ 19,995 for the
Ioniq Hybrid SE 1.6 GDi.
The entry-level hybrid version will come
with 15in wheels, DAB audio system with Bluetooth, cruise control, parking
sensors with rear view camera, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist
system and tire pressure monitoring system as standard.
Powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines
a 103 hp 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 43 hp electric motor via
a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Ioniq Hybrid produces a total of 139 hp and 147 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h comes in 10.8
seconds with the top speed set at 185 km/h. Hyundai claims a combined
fuel economy of 83.1 mpg UK (3.4 lt/100 km) and just 79 gr/km of CO2 emissions for
the base model with the 15in wheels.
Prices for the purely electric version
start at £ 28,995, which will get you a much more generous equipment level
mirroring that of the Hybrid Premium trim, including LED headlamps, adaptive
cruise control and integrated navigation system among others.
The all-electric version will also be
eligible for the UK government’s Plug-In Car Grant, meaning that potential
customers will also get £ 4,500 grant towards the purchase of the vehicle.
Under the bonnet lies an 118 hp electric motor with 295 Nm of torque on tap being fed by a 28kWh
battery pack. Hyundai claims a maximum driving range of 280 km.
0-100 km/h comes in 9.9 seconds while top speed is set at 166 km/h.
All versions of the Ioniq Electric will
feature as standard the so-called rapid charge capability, offering an 80
per-cent charge capability in just 33 minutes using a 50kW CCS Combo Rapid
public charger. The all-electric version also features adjustable regenerative
braking via steering column mounted paddles.
The new Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid will be
offered in seven different exterior colors including Phantom Black, Polar
White, Platinum Silver, Iron Grey, Demitasse Brown, Marina Blue and Phoenix
Orange. Interior trim features blue accents throughout the cabin.
The all-electric version will be offered
in six different exterior colors: Polar White, Phantom Black, Platinum Silver,
Marina Blue, Phoenix Orange and exclusively for IONIQ Electric, Blazing Yellow.
The cabin is decorated with copper accents in this case.
Hyundai will offer every Ioniq model
with its 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with the additional high-voltage
battery cover set at 8 years/125,000 miles.
Pricing for the PHEV version of the new
Hyundai Ioniq will be announced on later date before it goes on sale in 2017.
