PP03
For several years, electric vehicles
stand out in car races such as the Pikes Peak Hill Climb where they perform
better with the altitude than combustion vehicles.
Last year's Pikes Peak race had been
dominated by Sebastien Loeb and the record sprayed with his Peugeot 208 -
breaking the record of the event by more than a minute with 8: 13,878.
This year, Loeb does not recur, and Rhys
Millen (driver and specialist of the PPHIC) is still unable to match the time
of the French. But for the first time, he puts his electric car on the
overall podium with 9: 07.22.
The vehicle - sponsored by Hankook - is
the eO Drive PP03, marking the third appearance of the small Latvian
manufacturer at the event, and a first victory with this car developing 1020 kW
and 2160 Nm of torque in peak for 1200 kg.
Despite the support of Rimac Automobili,
the pioneer of the race with an electric vehicle, Tajima and the
"Rimac" e-Runner are nearly 30 seconds behind at 9: 32,401 but
nevertheless they rank second on the overall
podium.
