Yamaha has unveiled
the 2017 Yamaha R15 v3.0 in Indonesia yesterday. The price has not been revealed
yet, and more details on that are expected next month.
The Yamaha R15 v3.0, equipped with a new 155.1 cc
single cylinder, SOHC, liquid cooled, fuel injected mill, features a 6-speed
gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch. The engine is capable of producing
19.31 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500
rpm. The redline has not been specified but could hover around 12,000 rpm.
The bore and stroke for this new mill stand at 58 mm
and 58.7 mm. The latter is the same as the v2.0
while the stroke is bigger by 1 mm. The compression ratio is also higher
at 11.6:1 up from 10.4:1. And if you fret low torque at high revs, Yamaha has
brought in VVA (Variable Valve Actuation). This will not just help in producing
ideal amount of output across low, mid and high rev range but also assist in
keeping fuel consumption under check.
The bike is also bigger now measuring 1,990 mm in
length, 725 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height. Yamaha though has reduced the
wheelbase considerably to 1,325 mm from 1,345 mm which will help the Yamaha R15
v3.0 be more fun round the corners.
The tyres are also fatter with a 17 inch 100/80 M/C
52 P up front and a 140/70 17M/C 66S in the rear. The bike is heavier by a kilo
and now has a wet weight of 137 kg. The seat height has increased to 815 mm
from 800 mm.
The front suspension now includes upside down forks
which will help the bike absorb undulations on the road in a better way.
