A Toyota Fortuner has undergone a local
customisation by Kerala-based Toyota dealer Nippon Toyota, featuring an
aggressive and bold body kit that transforms the look of the SUV. Aside from
the golden yellow exterior paint job with gloss black roof, the eye-catching
detail of the body kit is the Lexusesque Spindle grille with vertical chrome
slats, which doesn’t look out of place on the Fortuner.
It also has a heavily sculpted front bumper with a
front splitter, LED DRL strips, silver garnish, a new rear bumper housing faux
dual exhaust pipes, and black accents around the LED taillamps and headlamps.
The wheels have also been painted gun metal, and the window lines have chrome
accentuation.
Nippon Toyota offers the bodykit as an option that
costs INR 2 Lakhs over the Fortuner’s price, which starts from INR 26.66 lakh
for the petrol model and INR 28.66 lakh for the diesel model (both ex-showroom
Delhi).
The Fortuner is available with two engine options:
the 166 PS 2.7-litre petrol and 177 PS 2.8-litre diesel
engines, which can be had with a 6-speed manual or automatic. A 4×4 system is
only available in the top-end 2.8 version. The diesel variant, the volume
model, is capable of averaging a fuel mileage of 12 km/L (manual) and 11 km/L
(automatic).
