Toyota Japan has given the Prius c (Aqua in
its domestic market) a minor update. Exterior-wise, the refresh sees the introduction of redesigned
headlamps and styling revisions to the front bumper, while the design of the
rear combination lamps have also been reworked.
The rear bumper has also been redone, and reflectors
find their way on to the unit, lending the assembly a sharper look. Changes to
the tyre specification have also come about while the Prius c continues to
ride on 15-inch wheels, the previous 175/65 rubbers have been replaced with
185/60 profile units, a move that the automaker says enhances steering
stability as well and ride comfort.
Inside, a TFT multi-information display is now a
standard fit item, and the refresh brings about improved materials and trim,
with white synthetic leather being one of the new options available.
The update also introduces a new variant grade
called Crossover, which adds active lifestyle elements such as fender arch
moldings and roof rails as well as a new grille and dedicated 16-inch alloys.
The ride and handling of the variant which will begin selling in Japan next
month has also been retuned in line with its suggested leanings.
As for exterior colours, buyers can pick from a
palette of 14 tones, including a new beige shade exclusive to the Crossover
variant. Mechanically, the Prius c continues on with the hybridised 1.5 litre
1NZ-FXE Atkinson cycle engine, though improvements to the engine have come
about, as well as that for the control of the hybrid system.
