Honda has released more details on the updated 2018
Fit for North America, just ahead of its official launch in the coming
days. For the 2018MY, Honda has updated
the Fit with new front and rear fascia, a two-piece chrome and piano black
grille and new alloy wheel options, as well as adding two new colors to the
palette – Helios Yellow and Orange Fury.
Their goal was to give the 2018 Honda Fit more
presence, with the company even adding a Sport trim to the range which features
a more aggressive and sporty look thanks to its exclusive bodywork features at
the front, sides and the rear.
These include a low, sharp front splitter highlighted
in bright orange, integrated fog lights, model-exclusive gloss black finish for
the 16-inch alloys, a three-strake diffuser with orange detailing, a chrome
exhaust tip and the obligatory Sport badge.
The new 2018 Honda Fit Sport also gets a unique
black interior with cross-hatched fabric on the seats and door panels,
featuring bright orange stitching on the seats, armrest and the leather-wrapped
steering wheel and shift knob.
All models are now available for the first time with
Honda’s Sensing suite of driver assistance systems as well, including features
like Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise
Control, Lane Keeping Assist System and more.
The 1.5-litre direct-injected petrol engine
continues to offer its services with either a six-speed manual or a CVT,
producing 130 hp in the case of the former and 128 hp should you choose the
automatic.
Honda has also retuned the dampers while adding
extra body reinforcements and a more rigid steering system. They’ve also made
adjustments to the transmission and steering system while added an acoustic
windshield and more insulation for a quieter cabin.
The 2018 Honda Fit retains its EPA fuel economy
rating of 29/36/31 (city/highway/combined) for the manual and up to 33/40/36
for the CVT model. Honda has still to provide more photos of the updated Fit or
