Tata Motors has released Tata Nexon specifications
ahead of the expected market launch in August. The Tata Nexon is 3,994 mm long,
1,811 mm wide and 1,607 mm tall.
It has a wheelbase of 2,498 mm and offers a
high ground clearance of 209 mm, which is 9 mm more than the Ford EcoSport’s.
1.2L Revotron turbocharged petrol and 1.5L Revotorq turbocharged diesel are the
engine options of the Tata Nexon.
The three-cylinder petrol engine produces 110 PS at
5,000 rpm and 170 Nm of torque from 1,750-4,000 rpm. The four-cylinder diesel
engine develops 110 PS at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque from 1,500-2,750 rpm.
A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, although AMT option is expected to
follow. There are three drive modes to choose from: Eco,
City and Sport. The fuel tank capacity is 44 litres, but the fuel economy
figure isn’t out yet.
In terms of equipment, the Tata Nexon will have
power adjustable & retractable ORVMs, engine start-stop button, automatic
climate control with rear air vents, reverse parking sensors, reverse camera,
front armrest with storage space, rear armrest with cupholders, infotainment system
with 6.5-inch HD display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration
compatibility and navigation. The Nexon’s sound system consists of four
speakers and four tweeters. Dual-front airbags and ABS with EBD are standard.
The Tata Nexon is built at the Tata Motors-FCA India
JV plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. Dealerships have started accepting
bookings unofficially for a price of INR 11,000. Prices are expected to start
at around INR 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
