The Concept EQA is Mercedes' first ever all-electric
EQ C-segment concept car, powered by two electric motors and boasting an
evolution of the automaker's Sensual Purity design language.
Unveiled in Frankfurt, the Concept EQA boasts a
total system output of over 272 PS, with the permanent all-wheel drive
system taking care of the front to rear torque distribution.
The Concept EQA relies on a
drastic reduction in sharp edges and lines, as well as the addition of a
spiral-shaped light signet. The black panel at the front acts as a
"virtual" radiator grille, and changes according to the selected
drive program. For example, if the car is in "Sport", the grille
depicts a flaming wing, whereas "Sport Plus" brings out vertical
struts in the style of a Panamericana radiator grille.
In order to get going, the Concept EQA needs to be
charged via induction or wall box, and is also ready for rapid charging.
Depending on the battery capacity installed, the concept's 60 kWh battery
system offers a range of around 400 km.
As for the first series-produced model belonging to
the EQ product brand, it's going to be the EQC, scheduled to come out of the
Mercedes-Benz Bremen plant, in 2019, and will be based on the Concept EQ
exhibited in Paris last year.
