Honda introduced the second-generation Amaze
subcompact sedan a few days ago. Priced almost similar to the outgoing model,
the range starts at Rs. 5.59 lakh and it goes all the way up to Rs. 8.99 lakh
(ex-showroom). The Amaze series has seen expansion with arrival of CVT on
diesel variants and increased premium equipment list.
It comes in two options: Unity and Chrome. The
customisation elements are fitted by the dealerships and owners have the
privilege to choose on of them. The Utility package comprises of side body
moulding, door handle protector, bumper protectors up front and rear. This is
more of a straightforward option.
Whereas, the Chrome package provides an array of
accessories such as adding chrome bits to the exterior. It allows for chrome
door lining, fog lamp garnish, trunk garnish and tail lamp chrome garnish.
Compared to its main competitor, the latest Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which enables
an immersive experience with the online configurator, the factory modification
options are quite limited on the Amaze.
The standard 2018 Honda Amaze derives power from
1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel and 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engines. The diesel mill
makes 99 bhp and 200 Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The
1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol produces 87 bhp and 109 Nm and has a five-speed manual
as well as a CVT option. The diesel motor gets a brand new CVT this time around
but it is de-tuned to make 80 PS and 160 Nm only.
