The Chevrolet Trax, came out in 2012 as an alternative to other subcompact SUVs,
such as the Nissan Juke. GM played it safe and cut down on production costs by
using the Gamma II platform as the foundation stone for the Trax, Opel/Vauxhall
Mokka and Buick Encore.
Since then, the automotive giant parted ways with
its European brands, which were sold to PSA, but the Chevy Trax remains in
production to this date, and so does its overseas sibling. GM appears to be
working on the successor of the Trax/Encore, as a recent reader scoop that was
sent to us shows – and this time there’ll be no Opel/Vauxhall derivative.
As the initial story revealed, the prototype
actually raises more questions than it answers, such as which brand exactly is
behind it and what platform it will be based on.
We guess we’ll find out sooner or later, Kleber Silva has imagined what the second-gen Trax might look like. The
renderings appear to be influenced by the brand’s updated models, such as the
RS versions of the Cruze and Malibu, and to be honest, the finished product
doesn’t look half bad, except for the wheels that seem oversized,
