Citroen finally bring C5 Aircross to Europe later
this week. In a few posts made on social media, the French automaker is
announcing the arrival of their new SUV in Europe, on May 24, at 6:00pm CET
(12pm EST), while planning to go live nine hours earlier.
Based on the same underpinnings as the Peugeot 3008,
5008 and Opel Grandland X, the Citroen C5 Aircross is a compact SUV. It will
take on vehicles such as the second-gen Nissan Qashqai and fifth-gen Toyota
RAV4, and will be made in Rennes, France for the European market.
It’s still unknown whether the car firm has updated
it in any way compared to the Chinese variant, but we already know what the
latter looks like. We also know that it’s equipped with a 12.3-inch digital
instrument cluster inside, an 8-inch infotainment system, wireless smartphone
charging and other functions.
In the People’s Republic, the Citroen C5 Aircross is
offered with two petrol engines rated at 165 hp and 200 hp, married
to a six-speed automatic transmission. The new C5 Aircross is also going to get
a plug-in hybrid version, with e-AWD, which uses the latter mill with two
electric motors for a combined output of 300 hp.
