Hyundai officially revealed Elite i20 facelift at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Korean manufacturer launched both petrol and diesel models at the Expo but the automatic variant was not offered. Now, according to Express Drives, Hyundai has launched the CVT variant of Elite i20.

This time the CVT option is offered in two variants – Magna which is the mid variant and top end Asta. Earlier, Hyundai only offered automatic in mid-variant but customers preferred top end variant with all the bells and whistles. The Elite i20 CVT Magna is priced at Rs. 7.04 Lakh and Asta at Rs. 8.16 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).

The automatic variant of Elite i20 is priced at a significant premium of around Rs. 1 lakh more than the manual variant. Hyundai is offering the same 5 speed CVT gearbox but the tuning might be different to improve the fuel efficiency over the previous. But Hyundai is still not offering Elite i20 with a diesel automatic model which will significantly improve its popularity.

We can expect the Korean manufacturer to introduce diesel auto later this year. Hyundai Elite i20 is powered by 1.2 L Kappa series engine producing 83 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The petrol manual model returns 19.8 km/l and we can expect similar efficiency for automatic also.

Hyundai has started dispatching Elite i20 CVT to dealerships across the country for display and test drive purposes. We can expect the official launch to happen later this month and sales to begin next month. It’s a busy month for Hyundai as the company has already launched i20 Cross earlier month and Creta facelift was launched today with deliveries commencing later this month.

Along with the introduction of automatic variant, Hyundai revised price of Elite i20 as the earlier prices were introductory. The Elite facelift get a new grille along with updated and an all new rear which gets updated tail lamp and the number plate is now placed at the hatch door rather than at the bumper. Hyundai Elite i20 compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
