The facelifted Renault Captur has just gone on sale
in Malaysia, and is currently on display at Mid Valley Megamall until May 20.
Pricing holds station at RM 109,000
on-the-road without insurance. Included in the price is a five-year,
unlimited-mileage warranty as well as a five-year/100,000 km free service and
maintenance scheme as part of the 5inCaptur aftersales package.
Also included is a complimentary 24-hour roadside
assistance and pick-up/delivery service for scheduled maintenance to and from
Renault service centres, and in the event any part is not available for over 48
hours, a replacement car is provided as part of a mobility service, subject to
availability.
On the outside, the facelifted Captur is
differentiated through a new grille bar and mesh insert, more rugged front and
rear skid plates as well as C-shaped LED daytime running lights at the corners
of the front bumper. Unfortunately, we don’t get the new LED “Pure Vision”
headlights, but we do receive the new concentric LED light guides in the tail
lights, as well as swanky 17-inch Y-spoke two-tone alloy wheels.
The exterior colour range has also been revamped.
Pacific Blue, Ivory and Arizona Orange are gone, replaced by Atacama Orange,
Ocean Blue and Pearl White to join the existing Flame Red – all with a Diamond
Black roof. Speaking of which, Flame Red and Pearl White come with a RM 900
premium, which also includes kick plates and a cargo tray in the boot.
Inside, the new model benefits from new materials
and trim for a more sophisticated look and feel, such as combination leather
upholstery and leather door trim. Elsewhere, the steering wheel, gearlever, air
vents, upper dash tray cover and transmission tunnel console have been
redesigned, the latter fitted with a rear 12-volt socket. The funky straps on
the front seat backs are no more.
Standard kit remains the same and includes projector
halogen headlights, front and rear fog lights, keyless entry, push-button
start, auto lights and wipers, auto door locks, a MediaNav navigation system
with a seven-inch touchscreen and AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, as well
as a reverse camera. As for safety equipment, items on the list include four
airbags, stability control and hill-start assist.
A 1.2 litre TCe 120 turbocharged four-cylinder
petrol engine continues to provide motive force, producing 118 hp at 4,900 rpm
and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. It’s paired with a six-speed Efficient Dual
Clutch (EDC) transmission, which drives the front wheels.
