India Yamaha Motor launched the Yamaha R15 V3.0 at the Auto Expo 2018, priced at INR 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company now plans to launch the R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition in India, according to a report from Autocar India. Reportedly, the new MotoGP Edition will go on sale in India in August 2018.

Yamaha MotoGP fans in India now have a reason to celebrate as they’ll soon be able to buy a new colour/graphics option apart from the standard Thunder Grey and Racing Blue colour options. The Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition gets the factory MotoGP livery in the racing blue paint scheme. The factory livery consists of the Movistar logo on the front fairing as well as on the side panels of the bike along with the ENEOS logo on the bottom belly pan.

That said, the R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition will come devoid of racing numbers of Valentino Rossi or Maverick Vinales. The Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition is already on sale in the Indonesian market. Mechanically, the MotoGP Edition doesn’t get any upgrades. That said, the Indian version gets conventional telescopic front forks in place of the USD forks on the International-spec version.

The Yamaha R15 V3.0 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that gets the segment-first variable valve actuation (VVA) technology. This engine is tuned to deliver a maximum power of 19 Bhp along with a peak torque of 15 Nm, while the engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike also comes equipped with a slip & assist clutch assembly. Other features include gets full-LED headlamps and LED taillights. The bike also gets a Metzeler Sportec M5 H-rated rear tire as an accessory along with a track-only Daytona muffler.

The bike is currently priced at INR 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the standard paint schemes. However, knowing Yamaha’s history with special edition motorcycles, the company will offer the R15 MotoGP Edition at a slight premium of around INR 5,000 over the standard versions. Although the new MotoGP Edition will add novelty to the R15 V3.0 range, another option that India Yamaha Motor could consider is the Black & Yellow paint scheme which is available in Indonesia.
