Mercedes-Benz is
shuffling the E-Class’ and CLS’ engine range in the UK, with new power units
going on sale effective immediately, as first deliveries are expected in
October. Among the changes is the E 400 4Matic getting axed in favor of the E
450 4Matic as far as the Coupe and Cabriolet models are concerned. The E 450
Coupe is priced from £ 50,900, while the Cabrio costs upwards of
£ 55,395.
With 367 PS and 500 Nm of torque at their disposal, the E 450 Coupe and
Cabriolet can rocket to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and 5.8 seconds
respectively, while being limited to a top speed of 250 km/h.
Meanwhile, the E
400d 4Matic is replacing the E 350d, offering 340 PS and 700 Nm of torque, taking the Coupe version to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and the
Cabriolet in 5.2 seconds. Top speed is again 250 km/h.
For more practical
purposes, there’s the E 400d 4Matic All-Terrain, which now replaces the E 350d
version. It’s priced from £ 64,445 and it comes with the same
3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine as its two-door siblings. While power and
torque figures are identical to the ones mentioned above, the All-Terrain will
need 5.4 seconds to reach 62 mph from a standstill.
This rugged version
of the E-Class also gets a 360-degree camera, Air-Balance package, Energizing
Comfort package and wireless phone charging – useful if you have a compatible
smartphone. As for the Mercedes CLS 350, priced from £ 52,625, it
features an all-new four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 299 PS and
400 Nm of torque. It also comes with EQ Boost technology, which
generates a further 14 PS and 150 Nm. In a straight line,
it will hit 100 km/h in 6 seconds flat.
