Toyota will officially present the all-new,
U.S.-spec Corolla Sedan on November 15, at 7:00 p.m. PST, with the event to be
live streamed over the web. Accompanying the official announcement is a teaser image which shows
a front end that’s similar to the hatchback and Europe’s wagon.
Toyota remains tight-lipped when it comes to
providing additional details on the four-door member of the new Corolla family.
However, we know that it’s based on the same TNGA platform as the hatchback, so
expect a more spacious cabin compared to the outgoing iteration, as well as new
engines.
In the U.S., the 2019 Corolla Hatchback is powered
by a 2.0-liter four-pot that churns out 168 hp and 210 Nm of torque, and is available with either a six-speed stick shift or a
CVT. Elsewhere, the all-new Corolla Sedan will make use of the brand’s
latest infotainment system. It has an 8-inch display, comes standard with Apple
CarPlay and Entune 3.0 Audio system, and can be upgraded with an 800-watt JBL
sound system.
Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0 suite of driving
assistance systems will also be available, offering Lane Tracing Assist, Road
Sign Assist, and updated Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Pricing for the 2019 Corolla
Hatchback starts at US$ 19,990 for the SE and US$ 22,990 for the XSE, so the upcoming
Sedan will cost about the same when it goes on sale next year.
