For its entire existence of two and a half decades,
Pagani Automobili has been synonymous with ultra-rare, mid-engine supercars. The mid-ship layout with
rear-wheel-drive is the way to go as far as supercars and hypercars are concerned,
and that won’t change anytime soon. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean people
can’t imagine different types of cars built by Pagani.
Russian designer Igor Krasnov certainly did and his
challenge was to envision a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout for a Pagani.
Naturally, that resulted in fundamentally different proportions, as these
well-executed renderings prove. Whereas the Huayra has a short front hood and a
long rear section behind the cabin, this hypothetical creation completely
reverses the proportions.
The unnamed Pagani coupe features a very long front
hood with enough room underneath to accommodate the Mercedes AMG-built
twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that delivers 730 PS in the “standard”
Huayra coupe.
The short boot lid that follows the sweeping
roofline makes the rendered car look more like an Aston Martin than a Pagani.
Still, the renderings prove that Pagani’s current styling language would work
even when applied to a grand tourer.
Okay, maybe the wing-mounted mirrors are a bit too
much, but the rest of the car doesn’t look half bad — including the gullwing
doors. The designer made some changes to the front and rear lights but even so
the car looks like something that would be made in the company’s Atelier in
Modena.
If Pagani ever decided to build an ultra-exclusive
grand tourer with a front-mounted engine, it would probably look a lot like
Krasnov’s creation.
