Audi unveiled the Q2 L e-tron at the Shanghai Auto
Show earlier this week, but it was hard to notice as the company focused nearly
all of its attention on the AI:ME concept. It was designed specifically for the Chinese market
and will go into production at their Foshan plant later this year.
Based on the extended wheelbase Q2 L, which measures 33 mm longer than the standard model, the Q2 L e-tron is an
electric crossover that features a front electric motor. It produces 134 hp and 290 Nm of torque. Audi declined to mention
detailed performance specifications, but the Q2 L e-tron has a 38 kWh battery
pack which enables the model to travel up to 265 km on a single
charge.
Besides the electric powertrain, the Q2 L e-tron has
been given a modest makeover. Starting up front, the crossover has been
equipped with a partially enclosed grille and new air intakes which are framed
by a metallic surround.
Since the model doesn’t need exhaust tips, there’s a
new rear bumper with a chrome-trimmed diffuser. The Q2 L e-tron also has
plastic body cladding and aerodynamically optimized five-spoke alloy wheels. The Q2 L e-tron will go on sale
in China this summer and more details will likely be announced closer to
launch.
