BMW Motorrad has
announced the launch of the all-new R 1250 R (Naked Roadster) and the R 1250 RT
(Sports Tourer) in the Indian market. The R 1250 R and the R 1250 RT (Pro) are
available as completely built-up units (CBU) and they are priced at INR 15.95
lakh* and INR 22.50 lakh* respectively.
The BMW R 1250 R is
available in Black Storm metallic and the Style Exclusive variant featuring
Pollux metallic matt paint. The R 1250 RT, on the other hand, is available in
Option 719 Blueplanet metallic / Option 719 Sparkling Storm metallic. Being a
roadster, the BMW R 1250 R misses any windblast protection. The BMW R 1250 RT comes with a semi-fairing design and a windshield trim
element.
Mechanical
specifications on both models include a 1,254 cc twin-cylinder Boxer engine
that makes 100 kW or 136 hp of peak power at 7,750 rpm and a max torque of 143
Nm at 6,250 rpm. The motor benefits from the company’s variable camshaft
control BMW ShiftCam technology that aims to provide supreme rideability and
power across the engine speed range while reducing emission and improving fuel
consumption levels. The BMW ShiftCam is also present in products such as the R
1250 GS and the new S1000RR.
Two riding modes
are standard. Safety features that are available pre-installed include
Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS Pro) with
cornering function and Hill Start Control. The R 1250 RT comes with a 5.7-inch
TFT colour screen that is accompanied by analogue speedometer and tachometer.
The R 1250 R, on the other hand, gets a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen. The
BMW Motorrad multi-controller gives access to vehicle and connectivity
functions such as phone and media. The system works via Bluetooth connection.
The BMW Motorrad Connected app also offers arrow navigation via the TFT
display.
