Hero MotoCorp has commenced the dispatches of the BS-VI compliant Splendor iSmart, but it hasn't revealed its engine specifications. Indian Autos Blog has received a leaked document that reveals the performance figures of the upcoming motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp.

According to the document, the BS-VI Splendor iSmart draws 9.15 hp of peak power at 7,500 rpm from its 113.2 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor. In comparison, the BS-IV compliant model made a slightly higher 9.5 hp of maximum power from its 109.15 cc mill. Another difference between the two is that the new motor benefits from fuel injection technology. Like the old bike, the new bike will most definitely feature the i3S technology that stands for Idle Stop and Start System. The tech turns off the engine at long halts and starts the motor as soon as the clutch is engaged.

The Hero Splendor iSmart will be available in two variants – drum and front disc brake. Both variants will feature identical dimensions, although the disc brake variant will be a kilogram heavier and about 10 mm wider. Hero Motocorp received the Type Approval Certificate from International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in June 2019. The BS-VI Splendor iSmart has been designed and developed at the company’s Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Rajasthan. The launch will likely take place by the end of this year.

The BS-VI Hero Splendor iSmart is expected to carry a price premium of approximately 10-15% over the BS-IV model, which retails at INR 56,280 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Another product that has reached a step closer to BS-VI compliance from Hero MotoCorp’s stable is the Maestro Edge 125. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer introduced the fuel-injected variant of the Maestro Edge 125 at INR 62,700 (ex-showroom Delhi). The carburetted model is sold alongside the fuel-injected model, although that will be discontinued post the BS-VI upgrade in April next year. The 124.6 cc engine with fuel injection tech makes marginally higher power output than the carburettor variant - 9.1 bhp at 7,000 rpm, and 10.2 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The carburettor variant produces 8.7 bhp at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm.
