The 2021 GMC Yukon will adopt
very similar updates to the Chevy models, starting with the new T1 truck
platform the SUVs share with the Silverado and Sierra full-size pickups. The
new platform allows them to grow in size significantly and pack more tech and
highly-automated driving assistance systems.
Expect
the same highlights such as the standard multi-link independent rear
suspension, optional 277 HP Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel, available
Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, and 10-inch infotainment system.
The
GMC Yukon and Yukon XL will make no secret of their kinship with the Tahoe and
Suburban, featuring identical footprint and proportions. These latest spy shots
give us the best idea yet of the finished item as the prototype drops the car
cover camouflage for tightly-wrapped tape. This allows us to see the design of
the front and rear ends for the first time.
As
before, the big GMC SUV will adopt front and rear designs typical of the brand
and, judging from the posh grille featured on this prototype and the quad
tailpipes, we believe it’s the high-end Denali trim which comes with the 420 HP
6.2-liter V8 as standard.
It’s
also pretty clear that the full-LED headlights and taillights are in production
trim. The front end is obviously inspired by the all-new GMC Sierra truck,
including the shape of the headlights, grille and fog lights. The 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL will debut
on January 14, 2020 at a special event in Vail, Colorado.
