The 2020 Clarity has started arriving at select Honda dealerships in California today, featuring a handful of updates for the new model year. Available from US$ 379 per month for 36 months and US$ 2,878 due at signing, with an available US$ 5,000 rebate for California customers, the fuel cell vehicle (FCV) has a mileage allowance of 20,000 miles (32,187 km) per year. It also comes with up to US$ 15,000 of hydrogen fuel and up to 21 days of access to a luxury car from Avis, in addition to the round-the-clock roadside assistance.

For the 2020MY, the Japanese automaker has equipped the Clarity with new heated side mirrors and improved Audible Vehicle Alert System for better pedestrian awareness. Improved cold-weather startup, black mirror caps and a Crimson Pearl paint that replaces the Bordeaux Red are also new, as is the brown-hued interior on cars finished in Platinum White. The Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance features are standard in the only trim level available.

Filling the tank with hydrogen at one of the nearly 40 stations found across the state takes between three and five minutes. The Clarity, which is eligible for California’s Clean Air Vehicle Stickers that allow single-occupant HOV access, has an EPA-rated range of 579 km, which makes it “one of the longest ranges of any zero-emission light-duty vehicle in America”. The fuel cell vehicle comes with a 174 hp and 300 Nm of torque powertrain.
