The facelifted 2021 Chevrolet
Equinox has surfaced online after a series of images showing the Chinese-spec
model were published by various local outlets. Our spy photographers have
scooped various 2021 Equinox prototypes testing over the past 10 months or so
and these images show that the SUV looks a little different than the outgoing
model.
The alterations start at the
front where Chevrolet has subtly tweaked the grille of the Equinox and fitted a
pair of new headlights with a head-turning split design. For the most part, the
sides of the updated model have gone untouched but this isn’t a surprise as
this is only a mid-life facelift as opposed to an all-new generation model.
Rounding out the minor
exterior design changes are new taillights, a different bumper, and a single
exiting tailpipe. These images from China reveal that customers will be able to
tweak the design of the facelifted Equinox through a series of blacked-out
parts, including the front grille, Chevrolet badges, wheels, and wing mirror
caps. An RS-badged model will also be sold with many of these same black parts
and also a set of quad tailpipes at the rear.
In the Peoples Republic, the
2021 Chevrolet Equinox will be sold with a new 1.3-liter turbocharged engine
with 165 hp replacing the 1.5-liter unit of the current model. A more powerful
2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will also be made available with 237 hp on
tap.
The North American-spec 2021
Equinox should be unveiled in the coming weeks.
